Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Ratings website

Post by mbastarache »

Ok, I've built a mini website for the CHL ratings. Its http://chl.simhl.net

This site is runned by volunteers. We watch CHL junior hockey games and we build the ratings for our home teams. We are looking for volunteers to help out.

All of the CHL stats will be updated throughout the year and will be available for download.

You can view our current CHL leagues

WHL = http://whl.simhl.net
OHL = http://ohl.simhl.net
QMJHL = http://qmjhl.simhl.net
Memorial Cup = http://memcup.simhl.net (coming soon)

Once I get most of the stats in either Excel or CSV format, I will build a STHS file of the real QMJHL league, OHL league and WHL league. They will also be available for download. Then you can play your own CHL game if you wanted with STHS.

Why am I organizing this?

Because, its easier and quicker to have many hands updating 1500 players than it is one person.

Also, I live in Moncton so I only get to see so many teams. This CHL league has GMs from all over Canada that can attend live games and really give solid input on the players they watch.

The advantage is if a team brings in a rookie prospect for 5 games. We may not rate him correctly based on 5 games play with no points. But if I sat there and watched all 5 games, I can rate him a lot better.
We'll get more solid ratings this way then just based on stats.

If we keep updating our teams as the year goes on, its not such a huge task to get the season ready for the following year.

I built a Ratings Guide to help build the players. So print that out and it should help guide you on how to rate players. Its pretty usefull to help you to get used to building players. So please, read this guide and use it.

Why, because we may have 50+ different people making ratings, if we don't follow some sort of standard, the ratings will not be consistent from team to team. This guide is essential to keep things fair.

I built and uploaded the Moncton Wildcats as of yesturday. So take a peek. Its a roster of 25 guys so its not a lot of work for me to update it every couple weeks. Maybe 10-15 minutes.

So, please if you think you would like to help, please email me with what team you could follow and update. Thanks.

Really good idea! A league could also easily use that to get their prospects/entry draft done. Just need to drop the skills a little bit, but it's alot quicker then create tons of prospect and everything! As of right now i cant really go to many CHL games, nearest team is about 45 minutes away, but next season I plan on going to many games a bit everywhere in quebec and maybe even ohl.
