Mug Shots of players

Post by joejiz »

Hi.

What is the correct URL in the simulator that populates a picture for each player? The default "mug" shot URL doesn't seem to work?

As seen below in the demo example we see the great picture of the player:

Hello,

We have entered the URL into the latest simulator and the jpg type, but when viewing a player I don't see mug shot:

http://www.coachab.com/PlayerReport.php?Player=785

Perhaps the URL no longer offers mug shots or there is an additional step I must perform?

Thank you.

Hi.

You are missing the players NHL ID. Check Rating2016 section for the NHLPlayerID-June2016.csv file and used the Import NHL ID by CSV option from the Bonus section.

Hi,

I have located the section your website:

http://sths.simont.info/Download_En.php

I have downloaded rating2016.zip file and extracted the NHLPlayerID-June2016.csv file.

I will now load the simulator, and locate the menu item called bonus.

Inside there I will try and locate

"import nhl ID by CSV option" and then locate the excel file.

Once completed I will then upload files in the output folder that modified date matches today's exact time.

Does this sound like the correct procedures?

Thank you.

This is the correct procedures. You only need to update your SQLite database on your website and you should be good to GO.

Hi

I left downloaded excel file on it's own, I never opened or modified anythuing.

I then tried importing it and it said:

"189 NHL ID on 805 were not imported correctly?"

Does that mean just one entry wasn't imported correctly or the whole thing was a fail?

I exited out and did NOT save league file.

Thanks.

It's mean 616 success and 189 failed. The failure is because the name found in NHL is not in your player’s database (Name dispels most of the time).

Hi

Thanks for clarifying.

189 fails, ok that's a lot to delete then. How do you suggest I delete the ones that fail?

Is there a log file that shows the 189 so I may manually the excel player name and it's respective NHL ID?

If not how do I know which ones are failing due to misspelling?

Thanks

Hi.

Check the file CsvInput.log in the same folder than the STHS to know the players who fail. This is only think I can tell you to help you.

Hi,

Ok I opened up the csvinput.log file using notepad and then manually deleted 189 fails by deleting the respective excel ROW.

As I went through deleting the rows one by one, I noticed some of them were no not spelled wrong at all, like Rick Nash etc...

I then tried to re-import it again and now 122 fails. Something seems wrong

Maybe the CSV file needs to be in a certain folder ? ( right now it's in downloads and not a coach file folder ) - That should not matter.

Very strange.

The only thing I can think of is that this league has been ran using other software for 15 years prior to coming to your software. Perhaps the import of the players from one software to yours caused this issue?

The last 5 years, since being in your league, all draft picks were manually entered and not imported.

What are your thoughts? Any clues?

Thanks for your help.

Hi.

The CSV is only there to help you mass import it. After, I suggest you manually add the NHL ID from the Edit Players Windows in the STHS.

Oh no way, well that would make sense if none of the players had the NHL ID in their profile.

Ok I'll try a couple as test and see what happens.

Success! We manually entered a NHL ID and it seemed to work.

http://www.coachab.com/PlayerReport.php?Player=367

Because we never import players into league using the "NHLData-July2016.csv" each year is this the reason why nhlid was never filled out?

Answer: ASSUME YES?

Can we just import NHLData-July2016.csv and it will overwrite only the player info that is being imported?

Thus we don't need to modify 800 players to enter NHL ID?

Next year we are no longer going to manually enter players into the league each year.

Hi.

You should import the NHLData-July2016.csv file and ignore the error. This way, you should already have 800 players with NHL ID. Then, you only need to manually fill the players who don't have a NHL ID.
