1-Way Contract Salary Cap Remaining

Post by Owen »

I am not sure if this is a bug or if it is something I do not understand.

We use a simple, fixed value salary cap. We also use the NHL rule that teams only gets partial cap relief for a buried contact on the farm (1-Way Contract Cap Hit is Salary, less this value). Our value is set to $1,075,000.

So if a player who makes $1,250,000 on a one-way contract is assigned to the farm, their remaining cap hit is $175,000. Everything I see regarding the actual cap hit looks like it calculates correctly. These exact values are listed in the sim output.

However, what is "1-Way Contract Salary Cap Remaining"? It seems to come up with some random value that looks wrong/unnecessary. Is this something involving the complex salary cap calculation that should not be with this setup?

Connor Ingram (1 Way Contract) $1,250,000 (1)
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap : $175,000
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap Remaining : $29,167
Riley Stillman (1 Way Contract) $1,250,000 (2)
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap : $175,000
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap Remaining : $29,167
Dominik Kahun $1,225,000 (2)
Colton White (1 Way Contract) $975,000 (1)
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap : $0
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap Remaining : $0

Hi.

Those option are only good for complex salary cap calculation. I suggest you uncheck those option from your output because they don't apply to you since you are using simple calculation.

All three of the Finance output options are already unchecked. It outputs the "Remaining" value anyway.

I also see that after moving from Preseason to Regular Season, the "Remaining" values have changed and now are showing the same amount as the cap hit:
Connor Ingram (1 Way Contract) $1,250,000 (1)
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap : $175,000
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap Remaining : $175,000
Riley Stillman (1 Way Contract) $1,250,000 (2)
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap : $175,000
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap Remaining : $175,000
Dominik Kahun $1,225,000 (2)
Colton White (1 Way Contract) $975,000 (1)
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap : $0
-1 Way Contract Salary Cap Remaining : $0

oh.. I get it. Those are the number I print for the people to like to manually calculate the salary cap. In your case, you shouldn't see the "-1 Way Contract Salary Cap Remaining " line and I'll remove it version 3.2.6. But you'll continue to see the "1 Way Contract Salary Cap" value for players who have the "1 Way Contract Salary Cap" option on them.

Thanks! I think my biggest concern was that it calculated the "remaining" value to $29,167 in the preseason, when salary is not paid out. I wanted to make sure it was just an output issue and not a calculation issue, since we have that option turned off.

Output looks perfect now :-)
