2.0.6 - Version 2.1 of Simulation Engine News

Post by SimonT »

Hi everyone.

This message is a follow-up to those topics: http://sths.simont.info/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=8055, http://sths.simont.info/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=8166 and http://sths.simont.info/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=8293

In the version 2.0.6, I have add a new simulation setting: PowerPlay (PP).

Like version 2.0.3, 2.0.4 and 2.0.5, you can activate the version 2.1 of the simulation engine with a manual command “V21 Engine Test” without the quotes to beta-test the simulation engine. When you’ll run this command, the option to run the simulation engine 2.1 will appear in the league option. But running this command will put the simulator in a temporary mode where you will be unable to save your league and unable to output the STHS Client file.

I hope to get your feedback on the work that I have done because I don’t intent to release the version 2.1 of the simulation engine for regular league simulation without having enough feedback.

Thank you.

I'm ending my season today, and I have some GM's that will test this engine with me during the next months, so you'll have feedback from me

Okay, I've started my normal off-season testing of the new version both 2.06 and 2.1 beta. I'm starting up a new league that I plan on tweaking scoring so that I eliminate the NJD neutral ice clutch...something similar to '80 Oiler style hockey. So basically I'm looking for a bunch of players in the 100+ maybe even a couple pushing the 200 point area.

I got 2.06 to near where I wanted it ~ 40 players at or over 100 points so I flipped to 2.1 beta. Exact same settings, schedule etc, I now have 50+ over 146 points and lol Ovi and Malkin (whom are on the same team due to trade in my league) with over 500 points in 82 games... yep.. Ovi averages over 7 points per game, or 1 point per every 3.7 minutes he plays. How there are 3 guys with - +/- I'm not sure when Ovi is +405

I'm going to try running the test mode to see what happens but I've run 8+ seasons this way, with Ovi and Malkin ALWAYS leading the scoring in the 500+ range.

The 2.1 engine seems to take the scoring rating to heart and runs it up big time.

In the next week I'm going to ratchet things down to scoring starting at 1 and work my way up to see if it slows things down at all... I've been playing in the 40-55 range and the changes in the results are very minimal where as in v 2.06 those change results in a large drop off in production at the top.

I should release 2.0.7 this week and the 2.1 engine scoring was lower a bit. (Roughly between 5 to 10%)
