I set my pro roster limit and maximum players to 23 but every time I do auto lines it puts 25 players.
Does this happen with auto lines all the time regardless of the number of players you set?

I went through the same thing today. Goaltenders are added on top of that. Spent half of my day figuring that out the hard way.
1) I set my "pro roster limit" in the "League" tab to 23 - allows the pro roster to be as many as 23 players
2) In the same "League" tab I set up the "minimum players per team" to be 20.
3) Under "options 2" tab I set "roster limit maximum players" to 18 (goalies are incremental to this number and set underneath it.). This gives you a game lineup of 18 + 2 goalies. The other three players would be scratches.
