Recommended changes for waivers

Post by Owen »

I'm not a big fan of having a maximum limit of players being on waivers in the simulator at the same time. Our league preseason starts with all players on the pro roster "in training camp," just like they do in real life. So there are a lot of players who go to waivers -- we currently have 185 players waiting to clear. But when the simulator only allows 100 at a time, it's very inconvenient to have to load only some of the team files, export the data, remove all of the players from waivers, and load the rest of the team files. I suggest raising the maximum limit to 250 players or preferably, removing the limit altogether.

Also it would be quite nice to have the waivers screen in the simulator sort by alphabetical order like how all of the other player menus are. I do like that the data somewhat exports in the order that waiver transactions are received but for viewing in the simulator, it would be a lot easier to find and process waiver claims by name.

I have a lot of waivers too between preseason and opening season. This could be a nice change if it's possible. Waivers sort by name can be nice too.

Hi.

The problem of making this change is that I can mess up everybody STHS files. Currently, the maximum is 100 and increasing to 250 or 500 required a lot of dangerous work inside the STHS. The benefit of all this work and possible bug introduced with this work doesn’t worth the very limited benefit.

I understand what Simon said about the risk of dangeroux bugs. Simon have good points about that.

Sorting by alphabet is a good idea if it's possible because it's not easy to find players when the list is full. It's only happened in the beginning of the season so it's not a priority.

Any chance there's been a way to fix this yet without causing big issues? We're also doing a lot of manual work to get by this, as we have all players sent to the pros before preseason like the OP does. Would be a big help to resolve. :)

Yeah. For our day 1 of preseason, we had 130 players placed on waivers. So we had to upload only enough lineup files into the simulator to reach 100 players on waivers. Then output and upload the waiver file to the website. Then manually remove players from waivers before uploading the rest of the lineup files into the simulator with the rest of the waived player. Output and upload to site again. Then manually remove players again to make room for players placed on waivers in day 2.

It is a lot of extra work for the users.

Ooops, I wasn't aware of that restriction, so I think I will have to change my plans on how we handle that in our league. Or the limit can be lifted somehow. I would also appreciate :)
