Pup up Finance

Post by PNHL »

Salut,

I think that option would be interesting in the client so the GM could be warned automaticly when he enter his team

very cool, I'd only need a spot to put smtp information, and from information and stuff like that and well of course the ability for the sim to process this information and fire off an email.

also perhaps the possibility for the team to decide to show or hide email addresses since some people are paranoid about having their email in the open.

Any mini email capabilities coming? Would be cool to have like a check box next to each Transaction Colour (in Output options), where you indicate you want emails sent to whatever Team is affected by the transaction.

Well from that screen, I'm only interested to have email for Injury, waiver (to all GM), suspension, roster error

Problem with email is that you need to configured a SMTP Server and it's can be very complexe depending on your ISP.

It's ok, it can be unsupported like MAC client :D

Just need the option for smtp host name, port, user/pass, maybe some tls/starttls option.

From name, From email, reply to email, subject (I guess could be like you have in the transaction colour buttons) body is the line in the transcation log.

Just like FTP, it works for most but not others. Those techie enough can handle it :) thank you :)

Happy New Year bump! :)

While I was dreaming about this awesome new email feature ;) I was thinking it would be good to note in the transaction log as well if an email was sent for a log note :)

But that problem is not for you, it's for the end user right? LIke your part is to just put the right fields but end user needs information like SMTP server, port, user/pass, secure or not. ISP usually give this information or you can use google smtp server without much issue.

If user don't fill the information they don't get emails.

Or am I mis understanding something?

Yes but the STHS should have an email protocol to input this info, don't know if it is hard to do. I did it in php code but I don't know if it's easy with visual basic.

I don't know, never really had email set up problems. Every mail client I've used in years past was just to enter the mail server information and voila :)

When you mention you did it before for PHP, that means your webserver actually sends the email, kinda like what a lot of front end portals do. Like I use Drupal and emails just magically work :) So I dunno if that's different.

I guess if FTP setup was causing Simon some issue where some FTP are not supported, then it could be a similar thing for mail. But in that case we could just have the relevant email fields, make sure it works for one smtp server and the rest will be whatever the user finds to work :)

It would be so awesome as not everyone is a daily checker of the sim logs. Notifications of injuries, salary issues, missing lines would be awesome :D
