Do most leagues base player ratings off how the players do in the NHL (use BRHL ratings) rather then how they do in the league? Just curious to know if that's how most work.

As the creator of Bar Down ours are purely based on how the player performs in the NHL. I think all of them are like that as well. It is hard to do player ratings based on how a player does in the SIM league because obviously the top rated players are going to keep putting up points keeping them rated high that way, whereas the NHL actually fluctuates every year

It varies, you will find leagues that do it each way.
