PH/DF/OF: ratings boost or decision formula?

In regards to the PH/DF/OF settings for lines and team wide strategy in the lines client, is the primary function of this a ratings boost, or is the primary function one of decision making(perhaps neither)?

I understand that if it is a ratings boost(perhaps OF boosts the SC/PA ratings of a player when activated), that this will have a secondary effect on the decision making mechanism, but that is not what I am asking.

If it is fully or partially a ratings boost, and it is used on a player tat has 99 in a correlating category, does that 'waste' some of the effect as the player has reached the maximum in the rating already?

Thanks so much

Since we have no clue what the formulas are and everything, its anyones best guess. I noticed putting all on offence doesnt create more shots/goals and same thing for all in def or all in physical. So its best to not think of them as anything and just try different formulas till you find one that makes your team perform better.

Ratings boost, got it!

So my other question, if somebody has already reached a maximum of 99 in all of the applicable categories, would the ratings boost for those categories(whatever they may be) be a waste on that certain player?

It wouldn't be a waste.
