How Stars are chosen
How Stars are chosen
Hi
Can you tell me how stars are chosen in a game?
It seems that in some games guys can get hat tricks and not even get chosen. Some bizarre results, just curious if the code changes for how stars are chosen? We are using 2.1 engine.

Re: How Stars are chosen
Hi.
Goal, Assis, Plus and Minus, Hits, Shots Block and PIM are in the formula to calculate 3 Star. I would be curious to see that game with the hat trick.

Re: How Stars are chosen
I will contact the coach who seemed to notice this the most for details of the game(s)
Re: How Stars are chosen
This is rather true though. I've seen instances where a goalie got the number one star for having a 12-save shutout, while a player who scored 2g, 2a was 2nd star. Yet I've also seen it where a goalie who had 40+ saves and 2 goals against in a win get third star when a guy with a single goal was first star (and his stats were worse than the other goal scorers).
I can start documenting instances, if you would like, Simon.

Hi Owen.
I would appreciate if you document then. I didn't put too much effort and analyses on this formula.

Re: How Stars are chosen
Sounds good.
Now, how would a goalie be chosen over a skater and vice versa considering that their stats are not the same? Is that an info you can provide us?

Re: How Stars are chosen
What do you means "Stat are not the same"? It's a formula.
Goalier : PCT in the Formula = X
Players : Goal, Assist, Plus and Minus, Hits, Shots Block and PIM in the Formula = X
The best 3 X result in the games get the star.

Re: How Stars are chosen
This was an interesting one... Reto Berra made 54 saves and wasn't a star. The team that won only had one of the three stars and the player who scored the OT winner wasn't one of them.

Re: How Stars are chosen
Well...basically, what I meant is to have an idea of what the formula looks like.
There is only 1 stat taken to determine if a goalie will be a star or not.
There are 6 stats taken to determine if a player will be a star or not.
Seems a little bit unbalanced to me. But yeah, we have seen instances where goalies have allowed 1 goal with 40+ shots, get the win and not be in the stars. Just wondering the weight ratio of the stats between a goalie and a player.

Re: How Stars are chosen
With a stop rare of 0.975, the goaler should get a star unless the 3 players had a very very good night.

Re: How Stars are chosen
Anyone checking out this game can easily say that a Dman with 1 assist and 8 hits should not get the 1st star over a goalie that makes 39/41 saves in a playoff overtime game. Yet, it happened and the goalie didn't even get the 2nd star...

This just happened this morning.

Re: How Stars are chosen
No doubt Berra should have been the 1st star of the game. No matter what the other players did in this game, even if the winning team would have had a hat trick scorer.Owen wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2017 1:03 am This was an interesting one...
