UFA bidding
UFA bidding
Just checking out the dynamic website that comes with STHS. Before I spend too much time trying to find this: is there a place on the website where I can see the UFA offers made? Both for GMs (to see other teams offers) and the commissioner. If not: are the bids stored somewhere in the SQLite database, so I may be able to write my own php code for a "UFA bidding page"?

Re: UFA bidding
Hi.
Free Agent bidding is not a feature of dynamic website. In my view, GM offer should be secret to other GM.
The STHS has an option to print all this information in the transaction log but this is after GM have made their offer via the STHS Client.
What is your goal with this UFA bidding page?

Ok, thanks for the quick reply!
Re: UFA bidding
Sorry, I missed the question at the end.
In our league, UFAs are basically signed in an open bidding process. All GMs can see all the offers, so they know who they are bidding against and what bid the have to make to beat the others. In the end, the player signs once no new bid came in for 48 hours. Everybody loves it this way, it's one of the most exciting phases of the season

Re: UFA bidding
Right now we still use a variation of the old 3rd party portal. I guess the UFA page we use was coded by the former commissioner. I guess I will try to recreate this once we made the switch to the dynamic website.

Re: UFA bidding
Did the software keep a history of players bidding or only show the winning bid?

Re: UFA bidding
It kept a history of all bids in a mSQL db, just in case the highest bid turned out invaldid for some reason. GMs only saw the highest bid IIRC.
A perfect page for me would be like this: a list of all highest bids and the bidding team with a counter counting down from x hours to zero, the counter being reset to x whenever the player receives a new bid. a click on the players name shows all the past bids (in this UFA season) to give GMs an idea which teams were interested.
Another option would be to keep the bidding teams (also the highest offer) a secret, and only show the amount. I guess that's a matter of taste.

Re: UFA bidding
Follow up question: is there a way of importing signings from the website to the sim via a DB import (like with trades)?
