Coach Ratings

I've been trying to rack my brain in an effort to figure out how to 'rerate' coaches, based on NHL performance...and I just can't seem to come up with a viable formula. Does anyone have any specific way of figuring out how to rate a coach? This would help IMMENSELY for not only rerating bench bosses, but also 'created' coaches as well.

I would based them on the team performance versus the league wide average performance.

I've thought of that...and it would work, but it wouldn't do me much good for 'new' coaches. Unless I based their coaching on their style of player they were in the NHL.

Usually new coach in the NHL coach in a team in another league.

I'd be giving my GMs the opportunity to hire guys like Yzerman, Bure and whatnot...they've never coached professionally.
