Goalie Starts/Minutes Limits

Post by Kramden23 »

I would like to suggest an option to restrict goalies from starting more than X number of games or playing more than X number of minutes.

In my league we have a 65 games started limit so once a team passes 65 games played then everyday for the rest of the season I have to manually go through every teams stats, see if a goalie has reached the 65 games started mark and then check lines to make sure that goalie is not starting in their lines.

To make this easier I thought an option such as the following would be helpful to a lot of league owners out there.....

Image

If a goalie is in the lineup to start who has exceeded the input selected then the sim would recognize this as incomplete lines and not allow the GM to save their lines. If the sim had to auto lines because it is recognized as incomplete lines when a sim is ran, then it would put the backup in the starters place.

Just wondering how everyone else would feel about an option like this?

This is near impossible to apply for me. It would break auto-lines.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think this command can help you : Check Goaler Time vs Team

Also I recommend increasing your fatigue options for goalies, this should help also.

Heh I didn't know this even existed. What exactly does it do? I ran it just for kicks and all it said was "Successful" though it didn't seem to really do anything.

I am on board with Kramden's suggestion.

After you run that command you need to output transactions and it will show you something like this...

Simeon Varlamov has goal 95.90% of the time Vancouver Canucks
Nathan Lawson has goal 76.17% of the time Komets
Mike McKenna has goal 7.47% of the time Cyclones
James Reimer has goal 2.75% of the time Vancouver Canucks

Hey Simon, if my original idea is too complicated then how about something like this...

Command: Goaltender Starts X (X being games started number)

So if you run the command: "Goaltender Starts 25" it will show a msgbox with all pro goalies that have started 25 games or more. If you run command: "Goaltender Starts 47" it will show a msgbox with all pro goalies that have started 47 games or more etc...

There is no need to even have this printed in transactions as it's just a commish tool for easy monitoring.

Maybe this command can be declined in 2-3 sub command like :

Goaltender start X games
Goaltender played X minutes
Goaltender played x games

Actually, I don't need to do those commands. You have this section in the "Pro All Players Stats" Output in your order the webpage by ST or MP.

I guess that'll work. I haven't really started messing around with 2.3 yet so I didn't know that page was available.

I like the basic idea, but, in my league, instead of blocking a goalie from playing at all after X number of minutes, we just impose a fine for each minute over the maximum allowed.

Finances are very important in my league, therefore, playing a goalie more than the maximum can be a big penalty for some teams.

Yeah I was really just looking for an internal monitoring system rather than having to comb through stats everyday to make sure there were no violations.

You don't have to comb through stats every day. Just set a max number of minutes in your league rules and when the end of the season comes, impose fines/suspensions or any other kind of sanction against the team who did not respect the rule in the first place. It litterally takes 2 seconds to check that at the end of the season with the individual leaders page as there is a section for goalie minutes played.

I know it's nice when Simon adds some stuff to the simulator, but in this case, even though I like the idea, it's something very easy for a commish to check, either with the number of games played, or with the number of minutes played. I would support this idea if it was something hard to do for a commish, but honestly, I think there are more important requests out there than this one...
