The release RFA command don't release player under RFA Age option in your Free Agent. It release equal or over the RFA Age.

Re: 3.0.8 Release RFA command doesn't work
Then they are not RFA who don't have contracts. They are UFA
You have both options, release UFA which would cover your scenario you described and release RFA which would do both RFA/UFA
I used it in previous seasons to drop RFA that weren't given qualified contracts.
If that's not the option to use then how do we mass drop RFA that do not have contracts now?

Re: 3.0.8 Release RFA command doesn't work
Unrestricted Free Agents = Can be sign by others teams without penalty.
Restricted Free Agents = Can be sign by others teams with penalty
Players who can’t be Free Agents = Can’t be sign by other teams.
The STHS show “RFA” sign next to ‘Players who can’t be Free Agents’ but the command ‘Release RFA’ don’t release them from their teams.
The only option is manual release. From the list of I saw in your league, you don't have much of those.

Re: 3.0.8 Release RFA command doesn't work
Hmm something doesn't seem right, as there seems to be a 2nd level of RFA? Like how do you define a player who can't be free agent?
In NHL you have unrestricted, guys who can go anywhere after July 1st. You also have restricted players BUT teams must give them a qualifying offer by July 1st... otherwise they are free agents. There isn't any other scenarios I don't think, you're either a UFA or RFA. How does a player become not allowed to be a free agent in NHL?
So after a certain point in time for each league, the commissioner needs to release the players that are not signed both older guys and younger guys. In my league, the RFA's that have been qualified, I set salary to something like 777777 and would expect that Release RFA would clean up all the UFA and RFAs for me. After, I mass edit the 777777 salaries back to 0, so the qualified RFA stays on the team but at 0$ contract. At certain points in the season, other GMs could put a offer sheet into the player.
What does the command Release RFA do different from Release UFA then?

If I recall, I have seen this same issue in version 2 as well. Not 100% sure though.

Re: 3.0.8 Release RFA command doesn't work
Hi.
The STHS thread all RFA as they received a qualifier offer.
There is another scenario where a team can make offer to RFA from another teams. For example, Shea Weber got a crazy offer from the Flyers when he was RFA that Nashville decided to equal. I don’t remember how old he was back then. So yes, there is 2 type of RFA in the STHS.

Re: 3.0.8 Release RFA command doesn't work
As far as I'm aware there's no way to specify in sths if a rfa has been qualified or not.
So when it is decided that the rfa has not been given a qualifying offer by his team then he needs to be dropped from the team and is now a ufa.
If it's decided that the rfa has been properly qualified by his team, then he remains team property but can be subjected to offer sheets from other teams.
Is there a built in mechanism in sths to handle qualified or not rfa?
If the Release RFA command is only releasing RFA that have not been given a qualifying offer, that's cool but how do we mark an rfa as not qualified?

Re: 3.0.8 Release RFA command doesn't work
There are 3 Free Agents type in STHS, all based on age.
Player under RFA Age : Not available to other teams. (RFA Level 1)
Player under UFA Age : Available for all teams with penalty decided by the league commish. (RFA Level 2)
Player equal or over UFA Age or Unassigned : Available for all teams.
There is mechanism to handle qualified or not. If a team do not want to keep a free agent, he must be release from his teams. The manual command only release RFA Level 2 from teams. For me, it's normal behavior (Not a bug) but I can change it.

Re: 3.0.8 Release RFA command doesn't work
dammit never submitted my reply
Oh I see, so we're talking about guys on Entry Level contracts. So normally the max a guy can be on entry level is 23 years of age or set at the minimum age of 21. I guess I misinterpreted the ages settings way back when I set up the league. Had been managing our FA by spreadsheet anyhow so I guess I never had a chance to notice until now.
