V 2.1 engine

Post by Upgreydd »

Hey dear commissioners,

is here anybody who runs his league with 2.1 engine and has NHL-like statistics (about 2,8 goals on match per team, 92-93% GAA by best league's goalies etc.)?

I'd be grateful for advice with my league which runs in 80's style in sight of goals and I really don't like it...

Thanks

Up.

Did you try lowering your players SC, specially the one with 90 of more of SC?

I also found that SC league wide needs to be compressed a bit closer together to avoid extreme super high scorers... Max SC 85 seems to help.

I've never been able to do so with that engine. I'm using 1.5 now to have that kind of results

Me too, 1.5 = best results. 2.1 engine seems useless for me even if I try a lot to get it work. Good goalies and players are too strong even with lowering all ratings by a big margin. Only thing I miss in 1.5 is take away, give away and better in game fatigue / extra players play more often in 2.0.

But I choose 1.5 over 2.0 after many hours of entire season testings with many combination of ratings. 1.5 with 10-20 morale sliders = perfect results for me.

I can add that we tried everything with the settings to get normal goal scoring numbers with 2.1 and it hasn't worked. Only the stars were scoring and doing so in 2-3 point per game fashion. Almost zero offence from 3rd and 4th liners on all teams. Teams were scoring 2.3 goals per game on average, way too low. The ''high scoring games'' were 8-1 blowouts instead of 5-4 contests. Tons of 2-1 type games.

Tested the same ratings with normal settings in 2.0 and it was far more logical. 3rd and 4th liners were scoring like they should, stars were still producing but not crazy numbers, more logical game results, etc.

with heavy compression of SC of your ratings, scoring is more well spread :) but hard to make the good goalies more mortal

We don't want to tweak the ratings 15 games into the season...

Of course not but just illustrating that there is some room in terms of working with ratings creation formulas to have a good result in v2.1. Taking other ratings and compressing SC definitely spreads out the scoring. What I don't know is if an appropriate formula can be found to effectively and fairly rate all the players appropriately.
