Version 2 Stats
As some of you may know, I'm currently programming version 2 of the STHS. A lot of discussion on stats happens since the birth of STHS. Is there too much, not enough? Is the option to show reduce rating is use?
I would like to hear your feedback on the stats?

Re: Version 2 Stats
Is PS really needed? I always saw penalty shots as a mix of PC, SC and SK, and kinda find the need for such a dedicated stat redundant.

Yeah, PS perhaps isn't needed, but what about DK for deking. That way it's a more useful stat just in case one of those 4th liners gets on a breakaway.Kitsune wrote:Is PS really needed? Wouldn't PH (Puck Handling) be similar to Deking? Although I guess some guys who aren't normally good puck handlers might have a couple super deke moves up their sleeves.ESHLCommish wrote:Yeah, PS perhaps isn't needed, but what about DK for deking. Seeing how the penalty shot has taking off as its own art form so to speak, it should be something included. You should also put in PS for goaltenders as well as some goaltenders, although great during the game, can't stop PS at all. Case in point being Kiprusoff!

Re: Version 2 Stats
I don't think we need something like Dekeing, we already have it based on a few ratings.
But i like the PS for the shooter as well as the goaltender.
But that would be more than enough rates for each player. We don't need to have 15 rates for each player. i think we have most skills covered already.

Re: Version 2 Stats
I think a player's consitency to his OV should be formulated, to allow more elite players to play elite and to avoid the flukes to gain too much momentum over an entire season.
Also perhaps a rating for invidual/team chemistry where the player has a much bigger impact to the line he plays on and working well with other styles of players. For example: Thornton and ovechkin on the same line should output Ovechkin as the sniper with a ton of goals and Thornton getting the same in assists. Somehow allow one players skill to impact another realistically and boost in cases like I described.
perhaps a chemistry for line combos similar to EA's NHL 2008?
maybe a rating for critical situations or how well a player plays in the last minute of a game, overtime, or in the playoffs?
Maybe even a media rating, lol, where a player reacts positively or negatively to fan or media criticism. the simulator would then have to incorporate some media module, lol. Just some crazy ideas.
for version #3 you could add grafix and offer joystick or mouse support for moving players around, (kidding of course)

Re: Version 2 Stats
If I understand well, for player, adding the EN and PS please everyone. For goalies, you want to add EN, PS, PH and remove ST.

I still think a Deking (DK) would be much for useful than a PS. Because DK could apply to breakaways as well.SimonT wrote:If I understand well, for player, adding the EN and PS please everyone. For goalies, you want to add EN, PS, PH and remove ST.

Re: Version 2 Stats
I still say both are not needed, as Dekeing is covered in puck handling and skating, and PS is covered with SK/PH/SC and possibly a few others. I defintely like to have something for goalies that cover horizontal movement (how fast they can get side to side). I dont think thats really covered by anything, maybe RT and SC? Also, we need a more solid answer on SC, I still dont get what the point of it is, even though it appears to have the biggest impact on a goalies OV.
