Hi guys,

New ratings are ready for skaters and goalies!

I don't know if I can attach an excel file on here. If so, I'll gladly attach the files if someone helps me out.

Thanks!

Yeah I really need the V1 with traditional tables, and I'm sure a bunch of others here do too. I really hope you made those this year.

Wow that really sucks :(
A lot of leagues use the NAIHL ratings and were waiting and counting on them. It would have been nice to have known that they wouldn't be made so we could make other arrangements for our league.

I tried e-mailing NAIHLStars several times but he never bothered to answer. I even offered to make the ratings if he was willing to provide the formula sheets. Plus it looks like these are the expanded tables, as last years V2 ratings had Shea Weber with a SC of of 74. He had more goals in less games last season yet his SC rating is only 69.

Just wondering what other V1 leagues are going to do now, as the only two available ratings files for V1 look pretty whacked! :?

It doesn't seem like extended set because almost everything is 50+... only stuff like DI and EN have entries below 50... I would think it's mostly traditional.....

Mathematically it just doesn't make sense that the same formulas were used. But it just seems to be with defensemen, especially SC. Here are a few examples.....

Passing:

2010: Duncan Keith -     38A/82GP = 78PA V2 traditional tables
2011: Alexander Edler - 38A/82GP = 76PA V2 new ratings

2010: Anton Babchuk - 24A/82GP = 70PA V2 traditional tables
2011: Cam Fowler -      24A/82GP = 67PA V2 new ratings

Scoring:

2010: Keith Yandle -        11G/82GP = 70SC V2 traditional tables
2011: Dennis Wideman - 11G/82GP = 61SC V2 new ratings

2010: Brent Seabrook - 9G/82GP = 68SC V2 traditional tables
2011: John Carlson -     9G/82GP = 59SC V2 new ratings

If you are a V1 league, can't you just delete the V2 specific ratings and use the ratings then?

Hey Kramden

I see what you mean but I see that more as an adjustment to their DF SC ratings because maybe they were too high scoring last year.

Extended/wide set ratings were great to create some real differences between players. In my league, we saw greater disparity between the good teams and bad teams and we were quite happy with the result. In the playoffs sure we had an upset or two but the two best teams went to the end and changing lines/strategies vs each team/game really seemed to have an affect. It was brilliant and I still hope to see a wide set.

Where to begin?

1st of all.......ALL the goalies birth dates are wrong!!!

Secondly, the EN and DU are clearly backwards. How can Crosby have a 58 Endurance and 74 DU? Endurance is how long a shift you can take, while Durability is your likeliness to get injured.

The defense SC is wrong, because you used the forwards charts on the d-men as well. Just look back to page 2 of this thread to see the benchmarks. 10 goals = 70 SC for d-men, yet Karlsson and Weber scored 19 but only get a 69. Should be 76 going by the benchmarks.

SC – Scoring: 100% goals. Again, this year we tightened the range between the tables. Common data points are:

Defense 5g=60, 10g=70, 25g=80, 40g=90.
Forwards 10g=60, 20g=70, 35g=80, 55g=90

The fighting is still whacked.

Brandon Prust leads the league in fights with 20 but gets a 77 FG rating, while Eric Nystrom has 2 fights but gets a 82 rating.

How hard would it be to create a chart by frequency of fights rather than % of your PIMs coming from fights? Anyone who leads the league in fighting should automatically get the highest rating, win or lose, do you not agree?

And I've always had a problem with the DF rating for defensemen. Lidstrom has 7 Norris trophies but continues to get a DF rating in the 70's. Chara is considered one of the best shutdown D-men in the game and he also constantly has a DF rating in the 70's. +/- is a flawed stat and should not account for 30% of the DF rating. Takeaways should be higher.

Anyways, this used to be the best ratings....now it's sub par.

Think I'm gonna make my own

thanks anyways

I completely agree with everything you said. And it really is a shame because these were by far the best ratings out there, by far! It's obvious that someone other than NAIHLStars did these (since he never even came on the board this year), and it seems that whoever did just through them together just to have something to have. So what choices are we left with?

SIMHL:
There are 23 players with 90+ in PA, 4 with 99 - Last year NAIHL had only 4 with 90+
There are 45 players with 80+ in SC, 6 in the 90's - Last year NAIHL had only 14 with 80+
There are 46 players with 90+ in DF, 11 with 99 - Last year NAIHL had 0 with 90+

I haven't even started looking at LCHV yet but I know those are a little whacky too. Man, I reeeeeally miss DVHL!

I really enjoy this game but it really sucks that we always have to rely on someone else to keep the league going. There used to be like 7-8 ratings packages to choose from, now we're down to 3 :(
