2.0.4.4 Waivers

Post by starfrit »

J'ai passé mon trade deadline, et mon option players cannot be sent to farm after trade deadline n'est pas activée.

There is a mandatory roster freeze between December 19 and December 27, where any claims on waivers are nullified. There are also several limitations placed on waivers after the Trade Deadline until the end of the season. Teams are no longer able to loan players to AHL affiliates, unless they were recalled under one of the circumstances described below. Teams cannot recall players except for the following circumstances.

-Teams are only allowed four recalls of players from the period between the Trade Deadline and the end of the season.
-A player can be recalled under an Emergency Recalled (explained later)
-If the AHL's team season has ended, the team can recall a player.

Q: How long is waivers applicable?
A: The waiver period starts from the 12th day before the start of the Regular Season [for 2007-08, the start of the Regular Season is October 3, 2007 – the games played in London do not count as the start of the season] and end on the day following the last day of a Club’s Playing Season [which means that for playoff teams, waivers may still be necessary while the team is playing; generally, this would apply only to re-entry waiver requests].

Alors c'est bel et bien un bug

I think it's more complex than that.

AHL teams submit a list of 23 names and these are the only players the AHL team can use going forward (or only for playoff) unless an emergency arises (less than 2 G, 6 D and 12 F not on IR). This list is submitted a few days after trade deadline.

Thus, NHL teams do not send players back to the AHL beyond that point, unless AHL teams are 100% they'll successfully be sent back down -- and not being claimed. Otherwise they'd have burnt one of their precious 23 spots.

This is all under reserve as I'm not 100% sure either.

It is not a bug per say, it's just a complex rule...

Waiver = Complex = Pain to program = I simplify the rules to know where to send to waiver. Sorry.
