How does the SIM rerate work for the split season?

If a player plays 30 Pro games and 50 Farm games. Does that play as a farm rerate seeing he played a majority of his games on the farm.

Or does the time on the pro team always play over the time on the farm team?

I am still new to the sim. And I am trying to come up with a way to exploit the guys that have a high defense rating but are low puck handling and passing. Is there a way to setup a strong forcheck? And what kind of core number do you look for when setting up a forcheck.
