Morale boost

Post by QSHL »

Maybe it's just me and my league, but it seems so easy to LOSE morale, but impossible to gain some.

What seems to make you gain some :
- Have a higher ice-time average than what the skill set suggests
- Winning

What seems to make you lose some :
- Not play
- Play less than the ice-time average than what the skill set suggests
- Get suspended
- Get injured
- Losing

I think it's been suggested before, but I'll resuggest it again because I'm mad one of my D got suspended one game today and dropped from 50 to 36. Just because he got suspended!!! And I know it's done for him, he'll never get back up and his over-average play is over and will probably be worse than ever until the end of the season.

- Being promoted from pro to farm and play a game should be a boost. So being sent back should make you lose some morale.
- Being traded to a team with a higher winning percentage should be a boost. So being shipped back to a team too far from the playoffs should lower it.
- Get a higher time-on ice average than on your previous team should boost you. Same thing the other way around.

And I don't see why being suspended should lower so much your morale. For an injury, yes I guess I'd understand more because the guy is not on the team, will be away for a month or so. But suspended?

- Being in the Top 5 (Goals or Assists ou Points) imo should be a boost to morale
- Sign a better contract than his previous one.

Version 2.1.1 and less

Players gain morale when
- Being trade when they morale is low
- Win a fight
- Team makes the playoff.
- Playing a good game. (Scoring, Passing, Point, etc.)
- Winning

Players lose morale when
- Being trade when they morale is high
- Lose a fight
- Get injured
- Get suspended
- Get put on waiver.
- Being Healthy and Scratches. (Pro Only)
- Losing

Version 2.1.2 and more

Players gain morale when
- Being trade when player morale is low
- Being trade to a team over .500
- Win a fight
- Team makes the playoff.
- Playing a good game. (Scoring, Passing, Point, etc.)
- Winning
- Being healthy and playing.
- Being promoted to Pro from Farm.

Players lose morale when
- Being trade when player morale is high
- Being trade to a team under .500
- Lose a fight
- Get injured
- Get suspended
- Get put on waiver.
- Being healthy and Scratches. (Pro and Farm)
- Losing
- Being demoted to Farm to Pro.

Note:
Since morale is reset at the beginning of the season, signing a new contract won’t affect.
I won’t add the Top 5 idea because I’m pretty sure it’ll put those players at 100 of morale all the time.

it feels like its much easier for a players morale to drop than it is to increase. and once in a tail-spin you can't recover.

These players are professionals, and sure they can be streaky, but...

I've got Patrick Kane @ RW, he's 3rd in the league in scoring, players max minutes per game, with PP time, hasn't been injured, or benched, and my team was 2 points out of 1st in the NW until morale started to tail spin... now his morale sits at 30. it just feels like for every increase, he decreases 2. over the past couple weeks, its gone from 36 to 30, and the team is about .500, and he's still putting up points. I would think the losses would balance the wins, and his continued scoring and playing without injury would have him at least at 36 still...

Our league is considering turning off Morale next season because everyone is seeing these sorts of results.
