A new match report detail

Post by rollollon »

I am posting a lot of games "live" on my site and first report from 1:st period.
Then next report after the 2:nd period.
Finally after the 3:rd period and maybe overtime and shootout on that.

I was thinking of a small detail in the actual match report that would increase the mystery and make it easier to just copy and paste the actual stuff happening in the period without giving away the end result and for the commissioner reporting.
And that is to put the shots of the period after each period in the report.
Then we would see who scored, who were in the penalty box AND the shots after each other in the matchreport.

Of course I could go up and copy the shots from the period in the summary on the top of the page but then you see the results.

As any suggestion I have no idea what time it takes to code this stuff so a suggestion is just a suggestion :)

To take it even further in this direction would be to create a sheet with the first period summary of todays games (all of them)
Then another sheet of second period summary (added to the first period)
Finally a sheet of third period summary (added to the first and the second)
Finally a full time summary of all todays games.
This feature would be for making "live" reports" to the Gms.

If this is not possible and if noone else wants this or if it´s too much work I have no idea.

This is just a suggestion 8)

If I understand correctly, at the end of period for Play by Play, you want something like this.

19:53 of 2nd period - Snap shot by Jakub Voracek.
19:53 of 2nd period - Shot Blocked by Alec Martinez.
Goals for this period are 0 for Team 29 vs 1 for Team 23.
Shots for this period are 6 for Team 29 vs 12 for Team 23.

Correct?

Je pense qu'il veut que la page today games ait 3 fichier pour 1 game

1 = 1ère période (Comme sa, il peut updater son site web et les DG voit le résultats après 1 période
2= 2e période
3= 3e période + OT + SO

how many GM's are online at the same time, waiting for the results to show up ?
ever consider you might be taking more time then needed to do your sim?

I have GM's come online to see the results in the morning, some at lunch time, some right after the sim, some before they go to bed....

in theory its a good idea, its cool to follow a NHL game live on NHL.com, but this is done for thousands of followers. as where in a sim league it would be done for just a handful of guys at a time.
I dont really see the purpose, but thats just my opinion

I really like this idea, just not sure how it's possible on the simulation end of things. If I sim my games and upload the results, it's kind of all or nothing isn't it? Are you just talking about teasing them with a report every few minutes until they can actually view the entire game result?

Exactly myRPHA.com, teaser reports is thw way to go ;) Drives the Gms crazy!
Str_QNHL, we all know that we are not thousands of people following this. It all has to do with how simple this is to program.
I have personally about 20 out of 30 Gms online at the same time for "live" nights, but as you mention I think it´s more common for people to check in different times in a day.

If it´s to time assuming to program the period reports, it will at least make it easier to have live feeds with just adding the shots of the period after each period like this:

1st period
1. Edmonton Oilers , Nail Yakupov 2 (Shawn Horcoff) at 5:19 (PP)
2. Edmonton Oilers , Nail Yakupov 3 (Shawn Horcoff) at 13:04
3. Calgary Flames , Oliver Ekman-Larsson 1 (Lee Stempniak, Mike Cammalleri) at 15:55 (PP)
Penalties: Lee Stempniak (CGY) for Tripping (Minor) at 3:29, Lee Stempniak (CGY) for Hooking (Minor) at 8:06, Ben Eager (EDM) for Roughing (Minor) at 15:41
Shots: 11-8

Thanx for tossing the idea around :)

I'm thinking about this and I won't add the "Shots: 11-8" into the boxscore. The information is a duplicated from table in the top of page. I don't think it worth to re-add this information and make the game longer to scroll down. Sorry.

But I did add the shots and goals per period information at the end of Play by Play for each period.

Juste pour être sur de comprendre Simon...

Cette option que tu ajoutes va créé 3 page de output par games?

Non. Ce n'est pas une option et ça reste 1 output. I only add the Shots and Score Period Information at the end of Play by Play for each period.

Ok..
