Unique ID
Unique ID
Well, again, since Simon are doing a do-over of the engine, it will be the time I think for all commish to get the unique ID of player inserted in the next version.
Exemple: the id of Ilya Kovalchuk is 134.
it would be great to keep that id forever for him. So when we upgrade ratings or the player retire, no other player will use that id.
thanks

Re: Unique ID
If it's not that way now, it should be! I thought there was already a number for players in the csv at least. I might make managing of player ratings easier however, when using other league ratings, this could become a nightmare. Not sure what's the best way to go on this is though...

Re: Unique ID
I once asked for that unique ID, I still think this is the way it should be

Re: Unique ID
Isn't it the case ? In our league, we never delete any player from rosters, so nobody may use any ID that had already been used. But if we decided to delete, for example retired players, does this mean that ID will be reused ?

Re: Unique ID
The player ID is available though - in the players csv. Its the first column and its called Number.
Re: Unique ID
Yes, if you delete a player, his ID will be used for a rookie you will create, and if you use the portal, it will mess up the career stats

Re: Unique ID
Interesting ! We never deleted any because we thought off this possible issue and it seems we were right. We're not using the portal but we are also using the IDs for stats.starfrit wrote:Yes, if you delete a player, his ID will be used for a rookie you will create, and if you use the portal, it will mess up the career stats
Re: Unique ID
Was this ever addressed? Simon posted something in another thread about stats being kept forever within the simulator, so if you just re-create a player, it should resume his stats from where they left off from.
However, I just tested that out by retiring Lane MacDermid on the simulator and instead when I re-created him, he had a completely new ID number and his stats from previous seasons did not show on his bio.

Re: Unique ID
Retired or Delete? If you retired a player (The players go in Unassigned Players List with the mention retired), it should keep his ID Number. If you delete him, it’ll be a brand new player with a new ID.

Alright, that makes sense. I guess my question then is, how do I "retire" a player on the simulator without deleting him?SimonT wrote:Retired or Delete? The only way I've found is by deleting someone and then the simulator asks you if you would like to retire him. However, that's what I did with MacDermid and it led to the unique ID issue.

You can do that manually.SimonT wrote:If you retired a player (The players go in Unassigned Players List with the mention retired).

Re: Unique ID
Problem I see with keeping retired players in the unassigned list is that the list will keep getting longer and longer every year. Maybe having a separate page on which the list of retired players can go on instead of the unassigned list?

What is the main goal to keep retired players in the STHS?
