shutouts?

Post by ArkanSeb »

we use version 2.0.7 of the simulator
and last year I noticed that there were 90% more shutouts in the real NHL than in our season
the simulator seems to make lot of 2-1 and 3-2 scores, always by a margin of 1 goal
but we cannot reduce the scoring setting for our league as the average we have is the same as in the real NHL

so my question is:
a) has anyone noticed that too?
b) is there a way to have a realistic number of shutouts?

I don't think it's possible to have a realistic number of shutouts. I don’t based and I won’t base the result of a game based on prior game, including if I had too many shutout of not. Each game result is independent of the rest.

how about a rating to give for a goalie the ability to have a shutout streak (in terms of mins). I'm sure the raters can find a pattern for which goalies have higher tendency to have longer stretch of 0 goals against. Those goalies can have higher potential for shutout. Call it the "In the Zone" goalie attribute :) I'm half joking....... half not :D

Sadly, I don't create new rating unless I change version. It would mess up all the current rating. And the data you are talking about would be hard to find. ;)
