It looks like there are a few people reporting similar issues with the STHS internal numbers for each player.
I have found that for any player whose "Number" is above 1000, there is some made-up other number being used to represent him in the Team.xml file in the team lines. I say "made up" because the new number doesn't match any player in the Player.xml file.
I hope that makes sense.
For example:
Jiri Hudler is Number 1203 according to Player.xml
He plays LW on the 4th line of my team.
But on NormalTrio4, the second player ID is 924
There is no player with Number 924 in the Player.xml
