League File download within Client

Post by lbernier »

You should put an option in the STHS Client that will download the league file automatically from the league website into the same folder or place on the computer where the Client is saved. You can have on the client an options page where it will open up and have something that looks like this:

League File Download link:___________________________________________

They put the link on where the league file download is. Then when they open the editor you can press a button that says download league file.

This would then have a please wait screen while it downloads and when it downloads it will automatically open up in the editor all at once.

I think it would be a neat shortcut and save time then downloading it from the site saving it and then opening the editor and loading it.

Done for 2.1.6.

Add a new feature in the STHS Client Help/Bonus windows: Download Latest League File. If your commish correctly enter the League Website Option, the STHS Client will download the latest client file and reopen it for you. This option is only available if you open the “old league client file” because the old client file contain the information need to download the “new league client file”.

Great idea! Thanks for bringing this to us Simon

One of my co-commish is so security conscious that he would like nobody to be able to download the league file unless they are in the league. I've set up links that can only be seen when you log in BUT I never told him that you can still download from the Index file :)

Next suggestion to further enhance the original post is to allow us to enable/disable seeing the download league file link in the index.html? What do you think?

Euh. Anyone with basic knowledge will know the location of the Client File. This knowledge is used to create Client File Name on the fly in the code.

If you output without the league prefix then they won't be able to easily guess what the name of your league file is :D

The rest of your HTML won't have a league prefix also. ;)

Unless you manually rename the STC file, the logic still apply. But if you rename the file, this new feature won't work.

I'm still deciding if having a league prefix on my HTML output is good or not. Trying to make my site updates each year less work/hassle.

Man after running a preseason for the first time, what hassle! GMs just can't figure out there's regular league file and a pre-season one, and updating all the links on my site just for pre-season is not worth it :) Really looking forward to this button in the client.

Just to have a better idea of what will happen, my STC file age is set to 1 day cause I want people to always use latest stc. When they open the client they'll have that too old message and will be able to download the new file from the client program still?

Hmm. Right no and I'll try to program the logic in the STHS :)

An Automatic download when expired would be good I think :)

Icepilot : Output Option, Folder List Tab for the Website URL.

Philfo : If your case, you should write http://www.lnahs.com/Output
