STHS Ratings for 2012-2013
Hey folks,
I am part of a group currently finalizing the most comprehensive rating pack every put together for STHS. This note is just a head’s up, as it will be made available to the entire STHS community. Our league (www.hfnhl.com) has been doing our custom rating set for many years and our league has been around since the late ‘90’s.
The ratings will be based on a two year rolling rating formula for all NHL players, with more emphasis (70%) put on the most recent year. But unlike most rating packs, this will utilize the last 164 games played by a player, regardless of what season those games took place. This approach solves to the problem of a player having played too few games for a proper or accurate rating in a given year. As such, the last 82 games for a player will be the most important, and games 83-164 will augment those ratings. We are utilizing Stats LLC as our data source, which is the best around. This applies to the more quantifiable ratings like SC, PA, DU, EN and to an extent, DI. For the non-quantifiable ratings, a different approach has been taken to aggregate a number of independent sources to best reflect each players individual ratings.
Updates to this rating pack will also be taking place in the fall and later on next season, so if your league is inclined to update ratings in midseason to reflect updates performances and ratings, this will also be made available. This will also include rookies for next year being added.
This is just a head’s up for those leagues looking for a rating pack that incorporates the 2012-2013 season.

Sorry for the delay guys. The quantitative ratings are all done (SC, PA, EN) and the majority of the qualitative ratings as well, but we are just tweaking with teh ratings for EX, LD and DU given a mistake in the data pull. Hope to have it in the next few weeks.

Re: STHS Ratings for 2012-2013
For those wondering, the small tests I did shows promising control in v2.1 sim engine. I would look forward to the final version.
We had already done our FA signing tool based on NAIHL but the one thing we did do was use these FG ratings for the players we had in NAIHL since there was a problem with uncontrollable fighting. Using the Dr. Sense FG ratings helped fix that.
